Slovak National Gallery
The Slovak National Gallery was established in 1948 and is the leading institution focused on collecting art in Slovakia. The main seat of the Gallery is the Baroque Water Barracks and the neighboring Esterhazy Palace on the Danube riverfront. Rich collections of the Gallery cover various periods of artistic tradition in Slovakia. Aside to special exhibitions, the highlight is a precious collection of Gothic art, which features many art works gathered here from remote churches in all corners of the country. The interwar modern Slovak art is also a spectacular collection. Please note that part of the Gallery building is currently closed due to reconstruction.
